Problem
Small retailers across Latin America run on spreadsheets, WhatsApp threads, and fragmented tools. They need a single operating system for inventory, sales, cash tracking, and customer-facing storefronts — without enterprise complexity or pricing. The same neighborhood also has suppliers, delivery drivers, and shoppers who need their own surfaces, not bolt-on modules.
Solution
Bodega Boost is a multi-sided React PWA on Supabase that unifies merchant operations — point-of-sale, inventory, supplier links, consumer storefronts, delivery runtime, and subscription billing — while serving suppliers, consumers, drivers, staff, and an internal ops console from the same codebase. Built for emerging-market constraints: low bandwidth, mobile-first, Spanish/English i18n.
Try it live — explore the marketing site, or request test accounts to sign in as any persona.
What is My Circle?
My Circle is the consumer's personal network of neighborhood stores. Shoppers follow stores they buy from regularly; those followed stores appear in the My Circle section of the consumer dashboard (/c/dashboard). From there, followers can:
- See store broadcasts and promotions pushed by merchants they follow
- View loyalty tier status and rewards (gems) per store
- Place pickup or delivery orders when the merchant enables My Circle checkout on their storefront
- Track active orders with real-time status updates and handoff codes
It turns one-off storefront visits into an ongoing relationship — the consumer's "circle" of trusted local shops, not a generic marketplace cart.
Personas in depth
Merchant
The core operating system: offline-capable POS (/quick-charge), inventory with purchase orders and barcode scanning, cash ledger with day close, CRM campaigns, analytics with an AI copilot (Pro), WhatsApp Hub for automation and intent classification (Pro), delivery hub for coordinating drivers (Pro), staff management with granular permissions, and module personalization across 28+ business presets (bodega, pharmacy, salon, restaurant, hotel, etc.).
Supplier
B2B portal at /supplier/*: accept or decline merchant link requests, manage product catalog, view linked stores and per-store detail, send broadcasts to merchants, handle inbox threads, review KPI insights, and subscribe via Creem tiers (free / basic / max with team seat limits). Suppliers can also list on the marketplace for merchant discovery.
Consumer
Public discovery at /c and /c/stores, per-store storefronts at /c/s/:slug with browse, cart, QR ordering, and WhatsApp order handoff. Authenticated shoppers get a dashboard with My Circle (followed stores), friends, order history, reservations, party invites, shopping lists with budget-to-store matching, push notifications, and purchasable AI tokens for concierge features.
Driver
Dedicated app at /driver: delivery inbox to claim open jobs, active job management with customer address and order status, linked stores and client contracts, earnings panel with payout confirmation, location updates (quota-managed), and notification bell. Drivers work under merchant-set delivery fees — the platform does not take a cut.
Staff
Multi-store portal at /staff-portal: accept store invites via /join, view weekly schedule and availability, request time off, submit worked hours for payroll approval, see compensation rates, and access delegated merchant modules (POS, inventory scans, etc.) based on permissions the owner grants. Staff can also hold supplier team memberships from the same account.
Ops (internal)
Console at /ops/* behind MFA and IP allowlist: bug triage, feedback moderation, strike tracking, account recovery, Creem refund queue with credit clawback, supplier marketplace document review, commercial tools (challenges, ad placements, sponsors, tax directory), reports, data export, and audited merchant impersonation for support. Nav items are role-filtered (ops_support → ops_commercial → ops_admin).
Platform depth
What ties the personas together:
- WhatsApp commerce — WhatsApp Hub (Pro) with automation rules, template management, intent classification on inbound messages, and credit-metered outbound automation tied to the merchant inbox.
- Supplier marketplace — merchants discover suppliers via the connector (
/supplier-connector) and raise purchase orders; suppliers manage the other side from their portal. - Delivery network — merchants dispatch via delivery hub; consumer My Circle orders flow into driver inbox; earnings and contracts tracked per store.
Engineering scale
Sole-developer scope with production discipline: 163 Edge Functions (analytics BFF, consumer APIs, WhatsApp pipeline, billing webhooks, ops cron jobs), 698 SQL migrations, client + server entitlement gates with sync tests, passkeys, PIN runtime for sensitive flows, and LATAM payment providers (MercadoPago, Wompi, Webpay, Yape/Plin) behind country-aware checkout functions.
My role
End-to-end ownership: architecture, frontend, Supabase schema/migrations, Edge Functions, Creem/RevenueCat billing, WhatsApp integration, security audits, i18n, e2e test suite, and launch documentation.
